BENGALURU: Bengaluru police have issued notices to BJP‘s national president J P Nadda, state president B Y Vijayendra and IT cell head Amit Malviya, summoning them in connection with a social media post accusing Congress of Muslim appeasement.
The notices, issued by High Grounds police station through the state BJP office on Monday, directed them to appear before the investigating officer within seven days.
This came a day after an FIR was registered against the trio based on a complaint filed by Ramesh Babu, chairman of the media wing of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, over an animation video posted on BJP’s X handle. In his complaint, Ramesh Babu said Malviya posted the video based on instructions from Nadda and Vijayendra.
The video shows caricatures of Rahul and Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah placing an egg labelled ‘Muslims’ in a nest with three others marked ‘SC’, ‘ST’ and ‘OBC’. The caricature of Rahul feeds ‘funds’ only to the bird that hatches from the ‘Muslim’ egg, while the other three hatchlings are pushed out of the nest.
