Meanwhile, nutritionists may work in a broader range of settings, including community health centres, gyms, or private practice. They focus on preventive health and wellness, offering general nutrition advice and lifestyle interventions to promote overall well-being.

Dieticians often work as part of interdisciplinary healthcare teams, collaborating closely with doctors, nurses, and other allied health professionals to provide comprehensive patient care. Their expertise in medical nutrition therapy complements the treatment plans prescribed by physicians, leading to better health outcomes for patients. Nutritionists may also collaborate with healthcare providers but typically focus on holistic approaches to wellness. They may work with fitness trainers, chefs, or mental health counsellors to support clients in achieving their health goals.

Dietitians are authorised by the Ministry of Health to provide diet charts and advice on appropriate nutrition intake to unwell individuals. They frequently use food plans that have been prescribed by doctors to help people who are experiencing severe illness.
However, nutritionists who are not officially registered with the government are unable to create diet regimes for their clients. Even so, they can advise patients in nursing homes and doctor’s offices on appropriate and healthful food consumption.
