Addressing a public meeting in Amroha, the PM recalled his visit to Dwarka where he had dived into the deep sea off the Gujarat coast to perform a puja.“Congress leaders had ridiculed me by saying that there was nothing to be worshipped beneath the sea. How can the leaders doing politics in the name of Yaduvansh (followers of Lord Krishna) in UP and Bihar align with such people?” he said while slamming the opposition for dismissing ancient heritage and faith for vote bank politics.
He said the opposition leaders should learn from Babri Masjid litigant Iqbal Ansari, who despite losing the Ram Janambhoomi case in 2019, attended the Ram temple consecration ceremony.
“Ye vote bank ke bhookhe log…prabhu Ram ki Pran Pratishtha ka nimantran thukra dein…koi kalpana kar sakta hai (Can one believe these vote hungry people who even rejected the invitation for Ram temple consecration),” Modi charged. Many opposition parties, including Congress and SP, had turned down the invite terming the consecration ceremony “a BJP event”.
Modi accused the opposition leaders of “abusing” Ram temple and sanatan dharma and calling Ram Bhakts “pakhandi” (hypocrites).
“Apne abhiyan mein ye log humari aastha pe hamla karne ka koi mauka nahi chhodtey (In the process they do not forget to attack our religious faith),” he said, slamming the previous govt of objecting to the famous Tigri fair in Amroha.
The PM said
“do shehzade”
(Rahul and Akhilesh) are busy “shooting a film” which has already been “rejected” in UP. “The opposition always picks up the ‘tokri’ of parivarwaad (nepotism), bhrashtachar (corruption) and tushtikaran (communal appeasement) while seeking votes in UP,” he said.
Modi accused the Congress’ Amroha candidate Danish Ali of objecting to the ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ chant. “Can a person who is against this chant be deemed fit to be in Parliament?” Modi asked.
In an apparent reference to the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, Modi said it was the political game of appeasement that had stoked communal violence in UP. “People of UP cannot forget the phase of goonda-raj that forced many to migrate from the west UP region after selling their properties,” he said in reference to the alleged exodus of Hindu families from Kairana a few years ago.
He appealed to the people not to allow “such dangerous forces” to unite and gain strength again.
